My Coming Out

I am not generally a joiner--I prefer to lurk. But after seeing so many wonderful creations in other blogs, I felt the urge to start an online archive of my completed knitted and tatted items.

I have been knitting for over 15 years. I could have started earlier, but it took a long time for me to realize that although I'm left-handed, I didn't have to knit left-handed. I am a former graphic designer who stopped working to raise my 4 children ages 11, 9, 5, and 3. I have channeled all my creative energy toward knitting since I stopped working full time.

I've been tatting since I was 9 or 10 years old--because I learned to tat from my Nana and she tatted left-handed.

Lately I've been knitting mostly socks. I love to knit socks because of the relative speed of completion, but also because you can try different techniques and yarns and not invest the energy and time needed to complete a larger project.

The socks posted above are part of my Valentine's Day gift to each of my kids.

I hope this will be the beginning of a fruitful endeavor.
